Future Day 2024
This was Future Day at GEMTEC
At 9 a.m. we welcomed four pupils from Königs Wusterhausen and started the day with a small breakfast and a short get-to-know-you session. Afterwards, GEMTEC employee Mike Ferkatsch showed two students our mechanical production. There they were able to learn about our various metalworking manufacturing processes at stations. Our laser cutting system was clearly the most impressive.
At the same time, the other two pupils were given an insight into the world of video technology. GEMTEC employee Dirk Anders explained to them how video technology can be used in control rooms and how various other components, such as access barriers, can be controlled remotely.
Over lunch, the four pupils shared their experiences and first impressions with us. We answered their questions and illustrated our offered vocational trainings to become a metalworker (m/f/d) for construction technology and an IT system electronics engineer (m/f/d). Afterwards, they went back to the work areas and the students were there when new video cameras were installed and learned about other processing methods in metalworking.
As we left, we all received a few souvenirs from today's Future Day. The cell phone holders that were made on the individual machines over the course of the day were particularly well received.
We would like to thank our four participants for their interest and look forward to seeing them again – at the next Future Day, during an internship or at the Long Night of Business 2026.
